The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation is seeking private-sector partners to install and operate up to 30 electric vehicle charging stations at its industrial campus in Brooklyn, New York, as part of an effort to expand access to charging infrastructure for businesses and the public, according to Environment Energy Leader.

The request for proposals, released May 30, 2025, calls for up to 20 charging spaces for Navy Yard tenants and up to 10 additional spaces for public use. The project would involve leasing outdoor parking spaces to an operator responsible for installing, maintaining and managing the charging facilities.

The original submission deadline was Aug. 14, 2025, according to the corporation's procurement documents. The solicitation is now listed as archived in New York City's official procurement records.

The proposed expansion could support Brooklyn's transition to cleaner transportation by making EV charging more accessible to businesses and visitors.

The 300-acre Navy Yard is home to more than 550 businesses employing more than 13,000 people, creating a substantial potential user base for charging services. The site also supports industrial businesses and manufacturers, including companies working in climate-related industries.

The initiative combines a commercial opportunity with a public-access component. The selected operator would be expected to manage the charging infrastructure while serving both businesses within the gated campus and members of the public.

In a July 2025 addendum, the corporation said it would consider proposals focused solely on the publicly accessible charging portion of the project, allowing applicants to pursue that part of the initiative independently.

The project aligns with wider efforts to expand electric vehicle infrastructure and encourage lower-emission transportation in New York City. However, the original procurement deadline has passed and the notice is archived.

Interested companies should consult the Brooklyn Navy Yard's official contract opportunities page for current solicitations and any updates before pursuing the opportunity.
