New York State Senator Roxanne Persaud on Friday endorsed former Governor Andrew Cuomo for New York City mayor.
Persaud, who represents portions of Canarsie, East New York, Brownsville, Mill Basin, Sheepshead Bay, Bergen Beach, Marine Park, Flatlands, Ocean Hill and Starrett City, said Cuomo's leadership will allow him to hit the ground running once elected mayor.
“I’ve worked with Governor Cuomo for years and I’m proud of what we did together to pass minimum wage increases into reality, make paid family leave a right, strengthen our Women and Minority Owned Business program and invest in our communities in Brooklyn – including building affordable housing and opening the beautiful Shirley Chisholm State Park," said Persaud during a visit to the NYCHA Vandalia Senior Center in Starrett City.

The state senator said she will rank Cuomo first in the June primary election.
"Our city is experiencing difficult times and we need a proven leader to fight for all New Yorkers and move our city in a positive direction," she said. "That’s why I’m proud to support Andrew Cuomo."
