As the election nears its end, President Donald Trump said he would send minimal federal funds to New York if Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani becomes the city's next mayor.

President Donald Trump on Monday officially endorsed former Governor Andrew Cuomo as the best candidate for New York City's next mayor.

Trump said it would be "highly unlikely" that his administration would contribute federal funds other than the very minimum required if Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the election.

Citing Mamdani incorrectly as a communist, the president said the city has "zero chance of success" under the Democratic socialist's helm.

"It is my obligation to run the Nation, and it is my strong conviction that New York City will be a Complete and Total Economic and Social Disaster should Mamdani win," Trump said on Truth Social. "His principles have been tested for over a thousand years, and never once have they been successful. I would much rather see a Democrat, who has had a Record of Success, WIN, than a Communist with no experience and a Record of COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE. He was nothing as an Assemblyman, ranked at the bottom of the class and, as Mayor of potentially, again, the Greatest City in the World, HE HAS NO CHANCE to bring it back to its former Glory!"

The president also said a vote for Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa is a vote for Mamdani.

"Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!" Trump wrote.

In response, Mamdani said the same billionaires that funded Trump’s return to the White House see just as good of an investment in Cuomo.

"Congratulations, Andrew Cuomo. I know how hard you worked for this," Mamdani said in a statement.

More than 240,000 Brooklynites voted early this year, outpacing every other borough before polls closed for early voting on Sunday.

Polls are open until 9:00pm. Click here, for BK Reader's voting guide to the general election.
