The New York Working Families Party on Friday announced its ranked endorsements for the upcoming June Democratic mayoral primary, naming state Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani as its top choice.
The progressive third party said it then ranks city Comptroller Brad Lander, followed by City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, state Senator Zellnor Myrie and state Senator Jessica Ramos.
"Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani has built an exciting campaign that has inspired thousands of New Yorkers to volunteer their time, donate and come together to fight for bold solutions to the problems working families face," Ana María Archila and Jasmine Gripper, co-directors of the New York Working Families Party said in a statement.
The polls and fundraising numbers tell a clear story about who is best poised to defeat former Governor Andrew Cuomo, the co-directors said.
“Importantly, every New Yorker has the opportunity to fill their full ballot with candidates who will unapologetically stand up for working families," they said, encouraging voters to leave Cuomo off the ballot.
The Working Families Party has fought for a more affordable New York for decades, said Mamdani. "Our city is ready for a new generation of leadership that turns the page on the corrupt politics of the past and, together, we are going to win exactly that on June 24th," he added.
