"It's about time we have someone that has been shown to work to support Latino issues and understands us in City Hall - and that person is Brad Lander," said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.

Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso on Thursday endorsed Brad Lander for mayor.

“Whether it’s more housing, livable streets or more affordable communities, Brad Lander will be a mayor for every borough and every neighborhood in New York City,” said Reynoso. “For too long, Latinos have been an afterthought for elected officials that we help put into office. It's about time we have someone that has been shown to work to support Latino issues and understands us in City Hall - and that person is Brad Lander.”

Lander and Reynoso have worked together in New York City government for years, on policy issues like police reform and affordable housing in Brooklyn and across all five boroughs. Lander supported Reynoso when he first ran for City Council in 2013, and in every subsequent election. Lander and Reynoso partnered in the City Council to build the Progressive Caucus.

Reynoso reiterated that Latino voters cannot be left behind in this mayor’s race.

“Latino voters are constantly told who to vote for: for people who don’t follow through on their commitments, for people who sell us dreams, and these big purchases that we never get, for representation that we never get in the mayor’s office,” Reynoso said.

The two elected have also worked on overhauling the commercial waste industry, land-use decisions and climate change issues.

"I have known Antonio for over a decade, and he continues to be one of the most effective, compassionate leaders in our city who knows how to truly leverage government to improve the lives of New Yorkers,” said Lander. “From reforming comprehensive city planning processes to fighting for a more just criminal justice system, I look forward to partnering closely with Antonio when I’m Mayor to deliver a City that’s safer, more affordable and better run.”

Reynoso's endorsement comes on the heels of Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, State Senator Julia Salazar, Assemblymember Emily Gallagher, and City Council Members Jennifer Gutiérrez, Sandy Nurse and Lincoln Restler endorsing Lander for mayor last week, as a way of electing a “steady hand” to lead New York City, in a slate with Adrienne Adams and Zohran Mamdani.

The current city comptroller has also been endorsed by Indivisible Brooklyn, 504 Dems, Unity Dems, Three Parks Democrats, Broadway Democrats, Village Independent Democrats, Upper West Side Action Group, Hell’s Kitchen Democrats, Bay Ridge Democrats, Independent Neighborhood Democrats, New Kings Dems and Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats.
