Dreaming of the runway? Brooklyn Borough Hall is looking for fresh talent to showcase their designs in a major fashion event this fall.

Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Brooklyn Arts Ambassador Colm Dillane on Tuesday announced an open call for emerging fashion designers to showcase their work at a full-service fashion show. The event will take place at Brooklyn Borough Hall during New York Fashion Week, spotlighting the borough's talent on a major platform.

The search is open to Brooklyn residents 18 and older. Five designers will be selected to present five full looks and will each receive a $5,000 grant to support production. In addition to funding, selected participants will gain mentorship from Dillane, the founder of KidSuper Studios.

“From streetwear in Bed-Stuy to bridal boutiques in Bay Ridge, people from all over the world come to Brooklyn for the fashion and style that originates here,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. “While it’s never been easy for artists, today it’s nearly impossible for young and aspiring designers to get their foot in the door. But a bet on Brooklyn is never lost."

The fashion show will feature full production support from Borough Hall, including the venue, runway setup, models, hair and makeup, lighting, styling, media coverage and event coordination. Designers are expected to handle their own garment construction but will benefit from exposure, professional staging, and creative guidance.

“Brooklyn is home – and no two blocks ever look the same. You’ve got skaters weaving past strollers, old-school locals trading stories, and kids in head-to-toe looks they definitely styled themselves. That kind of unfiltered, everyday expression keeps me inspired,” said Dillane. “I’m excited to help guide these young creatives as they shape their own version of what Brooklyn looks like now.”

Applications are open now and close July 6 at 11:59pm. Finalists will be announced the week of July 18, with completed collections due by August 29.
