Fearing he'd never make it out of the hospital alive, an 82-year-old East Village man wanted to make sure his beloved cat would be cared for.

As his condition deteriorated, a a neighbor cared for the cat by dropping off food and water. Since the apartment had been inhabited by a COVID-19-positive person, the neighbor left the supplies just inside the door.
