Large plumes billowed from a 4-alarm fire at a commercial building in Brooklyn on Tuesday.
The fire started in a one-story lumber storage building at 335 Hewes Street around 10:51 a.m. and spread to a 3-story commercial building, officials said.
"There is a lot of stock within these buildings and that's what's taken so long to extinguish these fires. It's a heavy load of combustibles," Chief John Hodgens said.
