New York State Attorney General Letitia James on Sunday endorsed Antonio Reynoso for New York's 7th congressional district.
The announcement follows Reynoso's endorsement by the New York Working Families Party, along with backing from the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council and the New York Progressive Action Network.
“Antonio Reynoso has delivered real results on affordable housing, good jobs, and justice for our communities as Brooklyn Borough President. In Congress, I know he will fight back against the president’s agenda and work for an economy that benefits the working class, not the billionaires," said James. "New York needs his progressive leadership in Congress, and I am proud to endorse him.”
The current Brooklyn Borough President is looking to replace Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, who in November announced that she was not going to seek re-election. Queens Assembly Member Claire Valdez and Queens City Council Member Julie Won are also running for the seat that covers parts of Brooklyn and Queens.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have the endorsement of Attorney General Letitia James, one of the strongest champions of working people New York has ever seen," Reynoso said. "Attorney General Letitia James' support gives us powerful momentum in this race as we take on Trump, fight back against ICE, and take on MAGA extremists that run Congress.
Brooklyn and Queens are ready for a Congress member who will deliver solutions on housing, economic justice and protecting our democracy, Reynoso said.
"And I am ready to be that fighter," he said.
Reynoso was also endorsed by 12 NYCHA Tenant Associations, but those names were not immediately available.
