Sen. Persaud Honors 19 Public Servants at Annual Power 19 Awards

The annual event celebrated the people whose work continues to strengthen neighborhoods throughout the 19th Senate District.

New York state Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud hosted the annual Power 19 Awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, recognizing 19 public servants and organizations for their service to residents of the 19th Senate District.

The annual event honors individuals whose work has contributed to neighborhoods across Brooklyn.

The ceremony was held at the Paerdegat Squadron Yacht Club in Canarsie, where recipients and their guests gathered to celebrate the achievements of this year's honorees.

"This year's honorees represent the very best of public service," said Persaud. "Their dedication and commitment to our communities make a lasting difference and I am proud to recognize their outstanding contributions and thank them for their service to the residents of Senate District 19."

The 2026 recipients were Mashantuck Bell, Darryl Bostick, Brooklyn North Sanitation Garage 5, Brooklyn North Sanitation Garage 17, Shawndelle Dalton, Elton Dharry, Dianne Dixon, Josephine Evans, Officer Alicia Haynes, Leonol Raquel Jesus, Imogene Jones, Officer Mohammad Mostafa, Carlisle Paul, Joan Rosegreen, Renee Stokley, Ebony Thrower, Anthony Whitfield, Mavis V. Yon and Lydia Zuniga.

The Power 19 Awards recognize the contributions of people working in public service across a range of roles, from sanitation and public safety to community service. The annual recognition highlights the efforts of those who help improve neighborhoods and support residents throughout the district.

The event also included a luncheon prepared by One Brooklyn Health and Nick's Lobster Restaurant for honorees and their guests. The gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate the recipients' service and contributions while bringing together members of the local community.

The annual Power 19 Awards continue to recognize individuals and organizations whose work strengthens Brooklyn's neighborhoods and highlights the importance of public service throughout the 19th Senate District.
