“Father’s Day” is coming a little early this year, at least for just over four dozen families in Brooklyn.

The B.R.O. Experience Foundation will host on Friday, May 29, 2026, a technology-focused giveaway in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, providing refurbished laptops to 50 fathers ages 18–30 who each have at least one child.

The event aims to support young fathers as they navigate work, education and parenting responsibilities while expanding access to essential digital tools that can help open pathways to opportunity.

Each participant will receive a refurbished laptop at no cost through TechFIN, a nonprofit organization dedicated to narrowing the digital divide by collecting used corporate devices, restoring them and redistributing them to families in need. The computers being distributed were donated by Boston Consulting Group, a global consulting firm that partners with organizations across sectors to address complex challenges.

“Young fathers are out here grinding every single day — trying to work, learn, provide and show up for their kids,” said Barry Cooper, founder/executive director of the B.R.O. Experience Foundation. “The least we can do is make sure they have the tools to do it.”

TechFIN, which stands for Technology for Families in Need, Inc., focuses on reducing barriers to computer ownership while also cutting down on electronic waste. The organization reports it has provided technology to nearly 5,000 families and diverted more than 18 tons of e-waste from landfills through its refurbishment and redistribution work.

The B.R.O. Experience Foundation, based in Bedford-Stuyvesant, supports the mental health and overall development of young men of color, from early adolescence through adulthood.

Founder and Executive Director Barry Cooper said the initiative reflects the everyday realities facing young fathers working to provide for their children while building stability for their families.

The event will take place at 1:00pm at The BRO Space Wellness Center on Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Brooklyn.
