Join a Discussion on Deed Theft at Brooklyn's Weeksville Heritage Center

Homeowners will get a chance to tell their stories on how they prevented deed theft on July 9. For those who are willing, staff at the center will record the oral histories.

Join Brooklyn residents and community stakeholders on July 9 for a discussion on deed theft and how homeowners have fought off speculators.

The event, hosted by NYC Planning Commissioner Leah Goodridge, will begin at 5:30pm at the Weeksville Heritage Center that will include a tour of the center, followed by a night of community where neighbors share their stories of how they have fought deed theft.

Speakers including Yolande Nicholson and Sherease Torain, and the discussion will be moderated by Professor Darrick Hamilton, the Henry Cohen Professor of Economics and Urban Policy at the New School For Social Research.

Weeksville will also record the oral histories of communities impacted by deed theft.
