CenterLight Healthcare’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) on Aug. 12 hosted its annual summer carnival, bringing together participants from across its centers for a day of games, music and community celebration.

PACE serves adults 55 and older across New York City, Westchester, Nassau and Western Suffolk Counties, with physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, rehabilitation therapists and recreation specialists. Programs provide comprehensive, individualized plans designed to help seniors remain healthy and independent in their homes and communities.

The Rockaway Parkway PACE center’s parking lot was transformed into a full carnival experience, complete with live entertainment, face-painting, and classic activities like ring toss, blow-up basketball, axe toss and a dunk tank that had staff eagerly volunteering for a splash.

“Es un placer aquí, jugué muchos juegos. Muy divertido!" said Pablo Soriano, which translates to "It's a pleasure here, I played many games. Very fun!" Soriano is a participant who attends the center every week. Like many of his peers, he was excited to spend time with his friends, play games and win prizes.

A magician opened the festivities, setting the tone for a day filled with laughter and connection. The event offered more than just entertainment; it created an opportunity for seniors to gather, strengthen friendships and share in the joy of play.

Prizes, games and the lively atmosphere encouraged participants to engage, while staff and community leaders joined in to show their support.

Among those attending was Jennifer Viechweg-Horsford, director of Community Relations for State Senator Roxanne Persaud, who was able to see firsthand how the PACE program provides care and community for older adults across the city.

"The event was amazing. Witnessing the participants enjoy the activities and carnival games the team organized for them was truly gratifying and reminded us why we love what we do here at CenterLight," said Patricia Connelly, Chief Operations Officer.

For CenterLight PACE, the carnival is more than a seasonal tradition; it reflects the organization’s commitment to building community spirit and supporting older adults in living active, independent lives.
