Celebrate Summer at Brooklyn Botanic Garden With Live Music and Art

From jazz on the lawn to centuries-old bonsai trees, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is offering a vibrant lineup of events and exhibits through October.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden is offering an expanded lineup of art, music and wellness events through October, inviting visitors to explore the grounds while enjoying live performances, interactive workshops and site-specific installations.

Amid signature summer plantings, including southern magnolias, tiger lilies, black stem bigleaf hydrangeas, forest sunflowers and fragrant water-lilies, is robust seasonal programming that includes music events, art installations and family-friendly workshops.

Natural Connections Soundbath
The Cherry Esplanade will host a ticketed soundbath experience Monday, July 21. Doors open at 7:30pm with the performance running from 8:30pm to 10:00pm. Visitors can bring a mat or towel to relax on the grass while listening to layered field recordings and live music. The event is open to ages 14 and older, with a pop-up bar available on site.

Jazz in July
Live jazz will take place Thursdays through July 31 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Performances begin at 7:00pm and include Mizik Ayiti, featuring Raisin Okan on July 17; Nascence on July 24; and the BrownstoneJAZZ Ensemble on July 31. Each evening also includes a Garden tour or activity. Performances are free with garden admission.

Artist in Residence: Julia Rocha-Nava
Brooklyn Botanic Garden will host Julia Rocha-Nava as Artist in Residence through September. She will create and perform bilingual music inspired by Latin American and Caribbean traditions. A family-friendly, bilingual workshop will be held Thursday, July 17 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, exploring plants and their medicinal uses through music and play. The workshop is free with admission and coincides with Jazz in July programming.

Turbulence 2025
Through Oct. 26, architect Suchi Reddy’s installation “Turbulence 2025” will be on view. The work includes reflective panels that move with the wind alongside a sound installation, aiming to make visible and audible the signals plants use to communicate stress. The ongoing exhibit is free with admission.

Little Caribbean Last Lap
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, the garden will celebrate Brooklyn’s West Indian community with an evening event from 6:00pm to 9:00pm featuring a live DJ, curated cocktails and Caribbean-inspired food. The event is held in partnership with I AM caribBEING and is free with admission.

100 Years of Bonsai
Through Oct. 19, the garden will highlight its bonsai collection with special exhibits, interpretive signage and workshops across the C.V. Starr Bonsai Museum, Conservatory Gallery and Magnolia Plaza. Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s bonsai collection is among the oldest and largest on public display outside Japan.
