The Brooklyn Public Library on Wednesday opened a pop-up location for Carroll Garden readers as the branch closed for renovations.
The pop-up at 250 Baltic St. allows patrons to sign up for library cards, browse and check out books, place holds and return materials. This location will be open Monday and Tuesday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, Thursday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm and Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
In addition to the temporary location, the library will continue offering bookmobile service and programs at community spaces such as St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, at 199 Carroll St., during construction.
“We are delighted to welcome the community to the Carroll Gardens Pop Up Library this summer to get a library card and browse and checkout books,” said Robin Lester Kenton, executive vice president of External Affairs at the Brooklyn Public Library.
The Carroll Gardens Library has served the neighborhood for nearly 120 years. Renovations include a new teen space on the mezzanine, improved lighting, fire and safety upgrades, a new HVAC system and restoration of historic features.
State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, and Council Member Shahana Hanif provided funding for the space, while IKEA provided furniture and other supplies.
