The Brooklyn Museum announced its June programming, offering a wide range of events for visitors of all ages.
This month’s highlights include a Brooklyn Talks with photographers Tyler Mitchell and Qiana Mestrich, a First Saturday event spotlighting trailblazing queer artists, and hands-on family workshops. These programs are designed to enhance the museum’s exhibitions, engage the local community, and promote learning through visual arts.

LGBTQ+ Teen Night: Past, Presence, and Future

Celebrate art, queer activism, identity, and allyship in our 12th annual LGBTQ+ Teen Night! Created by and for teens, the evening will be full of art-making, performances, and much more.

Join us for a lineup of trailblazing queer artists who shine across mediums, from film and music to drag and visual art. Inspired by Oscar yi Hou’s The Arm Wrestle of Chip & Spike; aka: Star-Makers, June’s First Saturday celebrates luminaries who forge constellations of connection among queer Brooklynites.

Bring the family to explore the galleries and exhibitions, from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary artworks. At the June edition of this free drop-in program, you’ll look closely at an object in Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art and create art inspired by the work.

Take a closer look at the special exhibition Consuelo Kanaga: Catch the Spirit through conversations with contemporary photographers Tyler Mitchell and Qiana Mestrich, who take inspiration from Kanaga’s work.
Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra: Opera Selections and Tchaikovsky

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra’s 51st season concludes with a program exploring the theme of fate, led by guest conductor Felipe Tristán.
