Retired Bedford-Stuyvesant resident Jin Tong Wang helps keep Van Buren Street clean by picking up trash on the block every day.

With a trash grabber in one hand and a trash bag in another, Wang walks up and down the street and picks up the empty bottles and candy wrappers that were discarded. His dedication to keeping the community clean has inspired nearby residents, like Ralph Yozzo, to help Wang in his effort.

Wang's mission is to protect the environment starts with keeping his own block clean.

“I believe that’s the way to protect the environment. That’s what I want, OK, I know nothing else,” Wang told BK Reader.
