Atelier Artist, a newly launched co-sharing studio and creative residency in central Brooklyn, announces its inaugural open call for artists for July-October residencies.

Atelier Artist, a new co-sharing studio and creative residency in central Brooklyn, is continuing to accept applications for its first artist residencies running from July through October. The program is designed to support emerging, BIPOC, queer, immigrant and underrepresented artists looking for an accessible and collaborative workspace.

The artist-led hub, at 495 Flatbush Ave., offers co-working studios and community-focused programming with a focus on accessibility, cultural equity and collaboration. Led by executive director Jonathan Pierre Lafleur and creative director Franck Henry Godefroy, the studio is designed for artists seeking new ways to connect and create.

“More than just a studio, Atelier Artist is a hybrid creative hub where members can build, exhibit and grow their practice while being part of a vibrant community,” said Lafleur.

Lafleur has a background in hospitality and community work focused on supporting immigrant voices. Godefroy is a Haitian-born photographer known for minimalist storytelling and international exhibitions.

Its rotating artist studios, called the Altis Hubs, provide shared and semi-private workspaces, gallery access and public events for artists working across disciplines. Membership includes 24/7 studio access, free quarterly gallery use, discounted event rentals and monthly public programming such as exhibitions, mixers, workshops and open studios.

Atelier Artist prioritizes applications from historically marginalized artists and offers flexible membership options with inclusive, community-led programming. Artists in visual art, performance, media, design, writing, sound and other disciplines are encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given to BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant and emerging artists seeking a sustainable creative home.

“We are building a new creative economy led by artists who dream like us; for the kind of creatives who are too often locked out of New York’s art world,” said Godefroy.
