Bushwick Restaurant, Falansai, Makes Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand List (Again)

Bib Gourmand list is a prestigious designation granted to restaurants with an affordable and remarkable dining experience

Bushwick's Falansai Vietnamese Kitchen is one of the 133 restaurants in New York City to receive the prestigious Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand list, a prestigious designation granted to restaurants with an affordable and remarkable dining experience.

To qualify for the "Bib List" in New York City, restaurants must offer a starter, main course, and dessert or wine for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included), and the food must be fresh, delicious and well prepared.

Michelin Guides are a series of guide books published by the French tire company Michelin for more than a century. The term normally refers to the annually published Michelin Red Guide, the oldest European hotel and restaurant reference guide, which awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments.

The acquisition or loss of a star can have dramatic effects on the success of a restaurant. The Bib List currently is running in 23 major restaurant cities around the world, including New York. But the list is growing so fast in Brooklyn, it may soon need its own list!

Falansai, located at 112 Harrison Place, opened in 2013 by owner and Head Chef Henry Trieu. Falansai's dishes celebrate the rich heritage of Vietnamese food and its influences from the French and Chinese cuisine, especially from the ChaoZhou region. The menu includes a mix of classic Vietnamese dishes, including Shaking Beef, Imperial Rolls, and Pork-belly Claypot, as well as well as innovative take on Vietnamese cuisine.

Falansai also offers a large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including vegan pho.

Eater named Falansai among the best Vietnamese restaurants in New York City and Culture Trip ranked Falansai among the top dining spots in Bushwick.

The Falansai Catfish Claypot is one of the 'ten Vietnamese dishes you need to know' according to Zagat.
