Crime is down 27 percent for the week of March 10 — 16, 2014, in the 71st Precinct, covering the southern end of Crown Heights.

According to CompStat, there were 22 total reported incidents in the 71st precinct, compared to 30 incidents during this same week last year. For the 28-day cycle, crime is down seven percent, with 100 reported incidents, compared to 107 incidents during this same time period in 2013.

And year to date, crime is down 8 percent, with 295 reported incidents, compared to 320 during this same time period last year.

Year to date, there has been one reported murder, compared to four at this same time last year.

The biggest percentage drop in crime so far is seen in the number of rapes and murders. And the biggest percentage jump is in the number of robberies, a 33 percent increase, with 40 reported so far this year, compared to 30 last year.

Message from the 71 Precinct: The 71st Pct has recently seen an increase in a rash of delivery people being robbed. Delivery personnel were robbed on the following dates:

  • 2/17, 9:30pm at 217 Ocean
  • 2/19, 7:00pm at 1015 Washington
  • 3/14, 8:00pm at 85 Clarkson
  • 3/22, 9:00pm at 305 Clarkson
