Brooklyn Children’s Museum will host 2 Girls & a Cookshop as the latest food vendor in its Culinary Residency & Incubator Support Program, bringing Jamaican-inspired street food to families visiting the Crown Heights institution.

The residency will run from Nov. 7, 2026, through Jan. 31, 2027, with café hours on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Founded by mother and daughter Shelly and Jataun Flash, 2 Girls & a Cookshop serves Jamaican tacos and street food inspired by the island’s traditional cookshops and New York’s diverse culinary influences.

“BCM is delighted to welcome 2 Girls & a Cookshop as our next CRISP vendor and introduce families to their creative take on Jamaican food,” said Atiba T. Edwards, president and CEO of Brooklyn Children’s Museum. “Founded by Chef Shelly and her daughter Jataun, 2 Girls brings the flavors and cultural traditions of the Caribbean and its diaspora to our visitors, along with the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that make Brooklyn so special."

Chef Shelly Flash has appeared on FOX’s MasterChef and Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race. The business has also been featured in The New York Times and VegOut Magazine.

The partnership highlights Brooklyn’s Caribbean heritage and the contributions of local food entrepreneurs while introducing museum visitors to Jamaican culinary traditions. It also provides a platform for a family-owned business to expand its audience and strengthen its connection with the community.

The menu will include jerk chicken dinner tacos, chop cheese bodega tacos, vegan jerk barbecue tacos, jerk cheese nachos and chicken over rice bowls. Children's options will include nuggets and fries, mini bowls and jerk chicken Caesar salad wraps. Breakfast burritos and mixed fruit cups will also be available.

Supported by a $100,000 Wells Fargo Foundation grant, the museum's Culinary Residency & Incubator Support Program provides local food businesses and organizations with opportunities to develop their operations through café residencies and food-based workshops.
