Admit it: You can feel it’s time to “fall back.” This year, clocks will fall back just hours past Halloween's Saturday festivities, on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2:00am local time.
On the one hand, this makes you happy, because there will be more light waking up in the morning. You'll even get an extra hour of sleep after a busy Halloweekend. On the other hand, it will definitely be dark when you leave to come home from work in the upcoming months.
Sure, you could move to one of the states or territories that doesn't observe Daylight Savings, including most of Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
But you don’t live in Maui; you live in Brooklyn, so you’re definitely “falling back!”
54 percent say they are ready to do away with the practice, according to a January 2025 Gallup poll. By contrast, 40 percent of U.S. adults say they are in favor of daylight saving time, while 6 percent are uncertain.
