Greenpoint Landing Associates just announced the launch of the housing lottery for a new permanently affordable apartment building located in Greenpoint.

The 22-story residential tower — which can be found within the 22-acre Greenpoint Landing master development — offers a total of 374 apartment units, and spans over 344,000 square feet, including 7,600 square feet of space for retail purposes.

According to a release, all 374 units are income targeted through the Extremely Low- and Low-Income Affordability (ELLA) Program.

Apartments are available to New York residents that earn between 30% - 110% of the area median income (AMI), with rent beginning at just over $400 per month.

In addition, 57 of the building's units are put aside specifically for formerly homeless applicants through a project established between Greenpoint Landing Associates and nonprofit Breaking Ground.

The residential building is designed by Handel Architects, an architecture firm that had already planned out six previously completed projects within Greenpoint Landing alone. One of the more striking design choices incorporated by the firm for the new building is a brick arched threshold entryway that leads to one of several private landscaped courtyards.

Each apartment unit comes equipped with electric appliances and oversized windows, and the building itself offers several amenities that include a fitness center, a communal lounge, an indoor and outdoor children’s play area, an onsite laundry room, among others.

"This is a perfect example of a public private partnership delivering high-quality affordable housing in Greenpoint,” said Anne Carson Blair, spokesperson for Greenpoint Landing Associates.

“These permanently affordable homes will offer a host of unparalleled amenities, striking architecture and access to sought-after waterfront open space, raising the bar for affordable housing development in New York City.”

The housing lottery is now accessible on the NYC Housing Connect website. Individuals who qualify can visit HousingConnect.nyc.gov to apply online or to receive information about how to apply via mail.

Applications must be submitted online or postmarked no later than July 31, 2023.
