Woman Injured in Brooklyn Car Crash by Driver Fleeing NYPD

The driver is in police custody.

A Brooklyn man is facing charges of reckless endangerment, vehicular assault and driving while impaired after a crash on Sunday, authorities said. The incident occurred on Gates Avenue around 5:30am, when officers tried to pull over the driver of a Mercedez Benz, according to the NYPD. The driver, a 32-year-old man, allegedly sped off, ran a red light and hit another car, police said. A 29-year-old female passenger was ejected from the car that was hit and was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
