The Fall of a Brooklyn Family: Violence, Death and Revenge Puts One Young Man Behind Bars, Three in the Graveyard

One by one, like doomed dominoes dropping on the Brooklyn streets, the sons of the Gravenhise family fell across the last 11 years.

The first was Hakeem, only 16 when gunned down outside his home in a 2010 gang war as his mother and teen cousin Clayton watched helplessly. Next came his cousin Nathaniel, killed at age 19 in what authorities called a gang-related shooting in 2014. The victim's brother Clayton, now 25, remains in jail after confessing to a pair of payback murders for his sibling's death.
