A Brooklyn woman was riding in a car with her NYPD officer son early Tuesday when a red-light running motorist slammed into their vehicle and fatally injured her, family and law enforcement sources said Thursday.
Maria Loaiza, 77, was riding in a Honda Accord with her son behind the wheel when a westbound BMW blew a light on Atlantic Ave. at Bradford St. in East New York around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday.
"She [Loaiza] was lovely. Everybody loves her. Full of life," said a younger sister of Loaiza on Thursday, declining to give her name. "We miss her. That's it."
