A man tried to console his friend after accidentally shooting him outside a smoke shop in Brownsville on Monday, police said. The suspect allegedly shot Desmond Francis, 36, in the chest with a pistol outside of the smoke shop near Ralph and Sutter avenues at around 10:20 a.m., police said. The shooter was outside the store holding two plastic bags when Francis playfully took them, but the suspect thought he was being robbed, officials said.
