Fire at Greenpoint Waste Site Injures 10 Firefighters

Ten firefighters were injured after a fire erupted at a waste management station in Brooklyn on Thursday.

NewsCopter 7 was over the massive three-alarm fire that broke out at 485 Scott Ave. in Greenpoint just before 4:00pm. Black smoke could be seen billowing from the two-story recycling plant located right next to the Kosciuszko Bridge. Officials advised people in the area to avoid the smoke and close their windows. FDNY officials say 63 units and 192 fire and EMS personnel responded to scene, where they encountered heavy fire and smoke inside. More on this from ABC 7 Eyewitness News
