An arson suspect charged with making terrorist threats to kill his Black neighbors in a Brooklyn apartment building, is set to be released from jail after the District Attorney agreed to drop felony hate crime charges against Steven Attanasso.
Attanasso, who made these threats against his neighbors in the Ebbets Field Apartments for about a year before his arrest, plead guilty to charges in court on Wednesday, according to NBC News 4 New York.
He is suspected with starting a fire on his floor, which killed a neighbor due to heavy smoke.
Attanasso will not be returning to the Ebbets Field Apartments in Crown Heights as he was evicted while he was in jail. He is banned from going near his neighbors for eight years due to an order of protection.
Attanasso's defense attorney said his client will try to seek mental health care services and will likely have to live in a homeless shelter. Read more here on NBC News 4 New York.
