Seniors living in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights might be eligible for upcoming services through a "Naturally Occurring Retirement Community" set up by their council member.
Those 60 years and older who live in Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr.'s District 36 can take part in the "NORC," a designation that lets seniors stay in their homes while accessing a host of city-funded services, like healthcare, classes or outings.
District 36 is the first "horizontal" NORC, or the first to be set up on a neighborhood level instead of "vertically" in a single building. It is set up with the help of Brooklyn Neighborhood Services.
