AY WELL+FIT Studio, a West African dance and wellness space based in Bed-Stuy, launched its summer class calendar on June 1. The new schedule features nine weekly classes designed to blend movement, culture and holistic health.
“Our mission is to offer adults of all ages and genders a transformative journey that blends dance, fitness and holistic wellness, empowering them to reach their peak physical potential," said Rubie Inez Williams, co-founder of WELL+FIT.
The lineup includes signature Djembe West African and Soca-Fit dance styles, along with Congolese, Afrobeat-Fit and Majorette-inspired classes. Other offerings include open-level African dance, core aerobics and somatic movement sessions. Each class integrates rhythm, cardio and strength-building techniques rooted in Indigenous traditions and led by expert instructors.
To make wellness more accessible, the studio is reducing the price of individual classes from $20 to $15. Two membership options are available: a 10-class package for $120 and a 3-month unlimited pass for $350.
The studio, a 3,500-square-foot space located a short walk from the Kingston-Throop Avenues subway station, features natural light, sprung wooden floors and climate-controlled comfort. Each class accommodates up to 20 participants to ensure a personalized experience. Mats are available for rent for $5.
AY WELL+FIT was founded by Kofi Osei Williams and Rubie Inez Williams, who bring more than two decades of experience in promoting African and African American dance through the Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation. Their nonprofit work includes arts education for youth and internationally recognized performances.
