Former White House photographer Pete Souza has been repurposing his IG and his collection of President Obama photos to throw 'shade' at the current White House administration.

Former White House photographer and bestselling author Pete Souza presents his new photography collection Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents at the Kings Theatre on Monday, October 15.

Following the success of his 2017 release "Obama: An Intimate Portrait," his follow-up Shade is a portrait in presidential contrasts, telling the tale of the Obama and Trump administrations through a series of visual juxtapositions. More than one hundred of Souza's images of President Obama deliver new meaning when framed by the tweets, news headlines and quotes that defined the first 500 days of the Trump White House. What began with Souza's Instagram posts soon after President Trump's inauguration in January 2017 has become a powerful commentary on the state of the presidency and the country. What some call "throwing shade," Souza calls "telling the truth."
Souza, a freelance photographer in Washington, D.C., has worked as a photographer for the Chicago Tribune, a freelancer for National Geographic and other publications, and the official White House photographer for President Reagan. He has won numerous photojournalism awards the prestigious Pictures of the Year annual competition, the NPPA's Best of Photojournalism and the White House News Photographers Association's yearly contest. Souza has had solo exhibits of his photographs at the Leica Gallery in NYC, The Kennedy Museum in Berlin and the National Press Club in Washington, among others. His traveling exhibit "Two Presidents" debuts in early February 2019.

General ticket sales commence on Thursday, August 2. All tickets include a copy of the book, to be distributed at the event. VIP ticketholders can meet Souza at a special pre-event reception. Ticketholders are encouraged to arrive early to pass through the theater's security check.
