Brooklyn Community Pride Center announced on Wednesday that Floyd Rumohr will serve as its new executive director effective January 4, 2016.

Rumohr brings more than two decades of executive-level nonprofit experience to the Pride Center, including running arts, education and AIDS service organizations. Most recently, Rumohr provided strategic planning and interim executive director services as a principal of the consulting firm Rumohr and Clarke.  Through this successful consulting practice, he served as the interim executive director of Apple Arts-NYC and Love Heals.

Prior to that, Floyd served as the founding president and chief executive officer of the city-wide arts education organization Stages of Learning from 1994 to 2010.

"I am excited to welcome Floyd Rumohr as our new executive director," said Board Chair Deborah (Debbie) Brennan. "We conducted an extensive, nine-month search to fill this important position and vetted over 250 candidates from across the country. Without a doubt, we found the best candidate to lead the Center's next stage of growth and expansion. Floyd comes to us with many years of leadership experience, and we are confident he will continue to build on the growth we have experienced over the past few years".

As executive director of the Brooklyn Community Pride Center, Floyd will be responsible for all management oversight of the organization.

"I am deeply honored to join the Brooklyn Center's dynamic team as we focus on building a twenty-first century, service oriented center for the LGBTQ community and our allies in Brooklyn," noted Rumohr.

Rumohr's first public event with the Brooklyn Center will be its upcoming Cornerstone Society Reception and Holiday Party on Thursday, December 17. This donor-only event will give the organization's most faithful supporters an opportunity to meet the new executive director.
