The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) has issued an advisory of a water interruption on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm on Hawthorn Street, between Nostrand and Rogers avenues in Flatbush/Lefferts Gardens.
The shutdown is due to DDC's project known as RED377, the Distribution Water Main Extensions/Replacements work. To facilitate the installation of water main, a water shutdown is necessary.
SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER:
- If it is necessary for the DDC to turn off your water service, you will receive written notice by 4:00PM the day before service interruption.
- The DDC recommends that you shut off the main water valve in your house/building in order to avoid problems that may occur if/when sediment enters or is released from your plumbing.
- You are asked to shut off all WATER cooled appliances, which may include air conditioners, etc.
- Once water service is returned, turn the main house valve back on and flush the system by running your faucets to sinks and tubs for a few minutes.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT NYC WATER QUALITY, PLEASE CONTACT THE NYC DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (NYCDEP) AT (718) 595-3496.
