The operator of the Brooklyn Mirage, a popular music venue, filed for bankruptcy on Monday after a series of financial setbacks and cancelled shows.
Avant Gardner LLC, the firm that operates the East Williamsburg entertainment complex, said it voluntarily filed for relief under Chapter 11 in Delaware.
The firm, which announced its filing on social media, had been trying to resurrect or sell the venue which had a series of cancelled shows this year due to a lack of proper permits and other issues. It said it will continue to operate Great Hall and Kings Hall, two other music venues in Brooklyn.
After the concert venue started to cancel their scheduled performances in May, the company fired its former chief executive officer Josh Wyatt in June.
The space had been closed for two years and was mired in controversy after two individuals were found dead near the nightclub in 2023. Since then, the venue was supposedly working on a $10 million project to renovate and make security upgrades to the space.
