New York Attorney General Letitia James is calling on DoorDash delivery workers to file claims to receive their share of a $16.75 million settlement before the deadline on Sept. 30, 2025.
The settlement is the result of an investigation by James' office that found DoorDash misled customers and workers by using tips to cover the guaranteed pay promised to delivery workers, known as Dashers.
Workers who delivered for DoorDash in New York between May 2017 and September 2019 and had tips applied to their guaranteed pay are eligible to receive funds.
The AG's investigation showed DoorDash used a guaranteed pay model that let Dashers see their expected pay before accepting a delivery. Instead of adding customer tips on top of this pay, DoorDash used those tips to subsidize what it owed workers. This practice was not clearly disclosed to customers or Dashers. Customers often believed their tips went directly to delivery workers while DoorDash kept the tips to reduce its own costs.
The settlement requires DoorDash to improve transparency in its payment practices and make order history more accessible for Dashers. All of the settlement funds will go to eligible current and former Dashers.
Roughly 63,000 delivery workers in New York may qualify for payments. Anyone who received a settlement notice but has not yet filed a claim is encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
For help filing a claim, delivery workers can contact Atticus Administration at 1-800-270-1039 or email [email protected]. More details and the online claim form are available here.
