Clinton Hill restaurant and entertainment hub Five Spot has been closed for the last week. Two seizure notices by the State Department of Taxation and Finance first appeared on the windows of the Myrtle Avenue staple late last week, stating that the property has been seized for the nonpayment of taxes.
Five Spot's social media accounts, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, all announced that the restaurant would be closed for the rest of the week on April 25, 26 and 27. The posts all had no information about the closing of the restaurant.
The Department of Buildings didn't have any information regarding the closing, when reached for contact.
Rebecca Ramirez, director of sponsorship and communications for the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, says the organization reached out to the owners to offer assistance but they don't know have information about the closing of the restaurant.
Five Spot been a fixture in Clinton Hill for the last 30 years. The restaurant had become a popular staple known for its authentic soul food and live entertainment.
