Untold Stories Take The SpotLight at The Greenpoint Film Festival

Stories once unheard find their place in Brooklyn this August.

The Greenpoint Film Festival runs from August 5 - 9.

Greenpoint Film Festival returns for its 15th edition August 5–9, with a lineup highlighting independent filmmakers and international storytelling.

This year’s theme, Unbound: Celebrating the Freedom to Tell Untold Stories, centers on expansive artistic expression and diverse perspectives that challenge audiences across cultures and communities.

The 2026 edition features eight narrative features, six documentary features, 94 narrative shorts, 19 documentary shorts and seven animated films, along with multiple New York and East Coast premieres across categories.

Opening the festiva is Café Chairel by Fernando Guillermo Barreda Luna, a human-centered narrative that sets an intimate and emotionally grounded tone for the program.

Closing the festival is When We Were Live by John Spottswood Moore, a documentary exploring Austin’s public-access television movement and its role in shaping community-driven media and creative freedom.

Additional highlights include the East Coast premiere of Seahorse by Aisha Evelyna, the New York premiere of Mistake by Honey Lauren, and Nothing to See Here: Watts, a collaborative documentary directed by 15 community contributors documenting life in the Watts neighborhood.

Hoop Like This by Shubhangi Shekhar examines representation in professional sports through South Asian perspectives.

The festival runs August 5–9, at Broadway Stages in Brooklyn, featuring screenings, filmmaker Q&As, panels, networking events and community programming.

The 2026 feature lineup includes Café Chairel, Danny Is My Boyfriend, Ephemera, Genevieve’s Garden, Mistake, Seahorse, To Move Is Friction and Two Ugly People, along with documentary features including Hoop Like This, Imprinted, Nothing to See Here: Watts, The Vegan Poultry Farmer, Uvalde Mom and When We Were Live.
