Brooklyn’s annual Dumbo Drop returns on May 29, bringing thousands of parachuting toy elephants to the rooftops surrounding Washington Street in DUMBO. The event will feature two scheduled drops at 5:00pm and 7:00pm, along the car-free block between Front Street and Water Street.
The event also includes live entertainment and family programming on Washington Street. Activities include a performance by The Jelly on the main stage, a flash mob dance event hosted on the LifeTime stage, a photo booth with printed keepsakes, crafts led by Creatively Wild, Lego activities with Brooklyn Bridge Parents, giveaways and Restaurant Row featuring $7 tastings.
“Dumbo Drop is one of the most unique and memorable sights in New York City,” said Alexandria Sica, president of the Dumbo Improvement District. “You won’t want to miss this and we are so proud to put on this event and raise funds for our neighborhood schools!”
Sweepstakes prizes include a six-month Life Time gym membership valued at $5,000, a $500 gift card and design services from M Collection Home + Design, a Fishs Eddy table setting for six, a two-night stay at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Park with dining credit, and a three-month summer pass for performances at The Rat.
Tickets are available online. Sweepstakes entry does not require attendance and closes May 28, 2026 at 8:00pm.
Proceeds support DUMBO public schools P.S. 307 Elementary and Dock Street School. Each year’s parachutes are designed by a local artist, with this year’s artwork created by Christian Vera.
The Dumbo Drop is organized by Team Dumbo, the neighborhood business improvement district founded in 2006, which oversees public programming, art installations, streetscape maintenance and community initiatives across the waterfront neighborhood.
