Finally, it's classy to be trashy!

On Saturday, May 31, models will strut their stuff in at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, donning clothes made out of worn, used and recycled items. In other words, trash.525897_10150839636413126_1463976325_n

The project, called Trashion Fashion, will take place on Saturday, May 31, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm., at the Brooklyn Navy Yard's Brooklyn Grange, an amazing rooftop garden and farm overlooking the Manhattan skyline, located at 37-18 Northern Blvd.

Trashion Fashion is a collaboration between professional designers, aspiring teens and pre-teens who have come together with the great challenge of turning one man's trash into another's treasure--- and then, sending it down the runway!Screen Shot 2014-05-30 at 5.01.37 PMLook for dresses and outfits-- 20 designs in total-- made out of drinking straws, plastics, bags, tissue and wrapping paper, maps, outdated promotional materials from stores and restaurants, and repurposed fabrics.

If necessity is the mother of invention, then never again should you need to say, "I have nothing to wear!"

Tickets are  $50 for general admission. Go here to purchase.

Note: This part of the Brooklyn Navy Yard is in LIC, Queens, not Fort Greene.
