The Bushwick Film Festival has announced that it is now accepting film submissions for its upcoming 16th annual event, which is scheduled for the week of Oct. 24-29.

The festival is currently looking for submissions of independently produced full-length films, short films, series, screenplays and NFT videos — open to all genres of work — from all around the globe. The submission deadline is June 1, 2023.

This year, BFF said that it is specifically seeking out movies that offer fresh perspectives and deliver gripping stories.

“We are excited to discover new voices and talent from around the world and showcase their stories in front of Bushwick audiences,” said Festival Director Kweighbaye Kotee.

“The festival is committed to fostering the growth of independent filmmaking and offering a platform for emerging filmmakers.”

Since the festival began, it has become one of the must-see cinematic events in Brooklyn, having showcased the creative works of almost 1000 filmmakers spanning over 50 countries, as well as making independent films more accessible to be experienced and enjoyed by local audiences.

BFF says that the purpose of the yearly event is to "create a vibrant and inclusive community of filmmakers and film-lovers, bringing people together through the power of film."

Along with the film screenings, this year's festival will also feature a variety of special events, including a lavish red carpet opening, insightful panel discussions, networking opportunities for up-and-coming filmmakers, an awards ceremony and more.

Filmmakers interested in participating in this year's festival can send in their films at bushwickfilmfestival.com/submit.
