Seven years after her last major tour, Madonna will be giving a series of intimate performances this fall, and she is kicking it off in Brooklyn.

Live Nation announced Monday that the "Madame X Tour," named after her upcoming album, will come to three cities with 16 tour dates. Six of these performances, from September 12 to September 22, will take place at BAM.

Having played arenas and stadiums since her ground-breaking 1985 Virgin Tour, the upcoming series will give fans a rare opportunity to see the "Material Girl" in an environment like never before, exclusively in small, intimate theaters.

"The chance for fans to see Madonna at these venues is incredibly special," said Madonna's long-time promoter Arthur Fogel. "We are proud and excited to be able to deliver this ultimate opportunity for her fans."

The tour is in support of Madonna's  "Madame X" album, a collection of 15 new tracks that celebrate Madonna's career-long affair with Latin music and culture as well as other global influences, set for release on June 14. Prior to debuting the album, Madonna has already released two songs, the ballad "I Rise" and the critically-acclaimed "Medellín," with Colombian superstar Maluma, and announced three more to be put out: "Crave,"  a collaboration with rapper/ singer Swae Lee; "Future," a dancehall-inspired track with Migos' Quavo; and a more experimental track titled "Dark Ballet."

"Madame X is going on tour, a theater tour," announced Madonna in a video. "I want my fans to experience the magic of a theater. I want to have an intimate experience with my fans, allowing us to vibe with each other."
