Kings Theatre, a historic Flatbush venue, has officially cut ties with Ticketmaster, instead using ATG Tickets for all future events, reports Brooklyn Magazine. The announcement comes after a series of controversies with the ticketing service in the wake of the botched rollout of Taylor Swift's recent concert tickets.

“We pride ourselves on offering exceptional customer service to all our patrons,” Kings Theatre officials stated in a recent online public statement.

“Our experienced staff are on hand to assist with your ticketing needs. Whether you’re a first-time ticket buyer or a frequent visitor, we’ll help you find the best seats. As of March 27, 2023, tickets for events at Kings Theatre are sold exclusively via ATG Tickets and are available for purchase through our box office and website.”

Ticketmaster, a controversial ticketing monopoly, has recently been the subject of public backlash. Following the ticket seller's inability to process orders, leaving millions of people unable to buy tickets to Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour last November.

The ticketing giant ultimately cancelled ticket sales to the general public, citing “extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand.” And while Kings Theatre is just a fraction of the size of Swift's typically sold-out stadiums, the venue is not willing to risk not only their sales but their customer's trust.

Tickets that have already been purchased for shows and events at Kings Theatre through Ticketmaster will continue to be valid. However, tickets for all future events can either be purchased on ATG Tickets or at the venue’s box office.

Upcoming shows include Ed Sheeran on April 10, The Flaming Lips in June, Sigur Rós in August and, just on sale now, Nick Cave in October.
