Brooklyn’s Dominican community will take center stage Saturday as Dominican Night at the Bandshell brings a free evening of music and culture to Prospect Park.
Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! will host the event Aug. 29 at the Lena Horne Bandshell, 141 Prospect Park West. Doors open at 5:00pm, with the show beginning at 6:00pm. Admission is free and entry is first-come, first-served.
The lineup will feature bachata singer Teodoro Reyes, Dominican dembow artist La Insuperable, tropical and Latin performer Aris Jackson and DJ Mega Jay. The event will showcase several styles of Dominican music while celebrating the cultural influence of Brooklyn’s Dominican community.
“Brooklyn is home to one of the most vibrant Dominican communities in the country, and I am so excited to bring the rhythms of the Dominican diaspora to the heart of Prospect Park. Whether you’ve grown up listening to Dominican music or this show will be your first time, you are guaranteed to have a good time at Dominican Night at the Bandshell!” said Reynoso.
Dominicans have helped shape Brooklyn’s cultural and economic life for decades, and the borough is home to more than 100,000 Dominicans. The event also continues Reynoso’s efforts to highlight Dominican culture through public programming. Last month, he hosted his fourth annual Tipico Night at Domino Park, bringing traditional Dominican music to the Williamsburg waterfront.
Dominican Night is part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, which is in its 47th season and is billed as New York City’s longest-running free outdoor performing arts festival. The summer series brings concerts and other performances to the Lena Horne Bandshell, creating opportunities for Brooklyn residents to experience live entertainment without an admission fee.
The Aug. 29 event will also include an ASL interpreter on stage for Deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with accessible entrances, seating and concessions.
Attendees can RSVP online to receive updates, though an RSVP does not guarantee entry. The event will proceed on a first-come, first-served basis, making early arrival advisable for those hoping to attend.
BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! will continue its 2026 season with additional performances at the Bandshell through September.
