Luna Park in Coney Island will open to the public on Saturday, March 23, but the official opening weekend festivities will take place on Sunday, March 24.

The amusement park's 2024 season will kick off with its annual egg cream christening of the Cyclone roller coaster at 10:45 am on Sunday.

The legendary Cyclone roller coaster turns 97 this year. In keeping with tradition, the first 97 guests to ride the Cyclone will enjoy a free ride and an egg cream treat, the classic Coney Island dessert, courtesy of Luna Park and Brooklyn Seltzer Boys, according to a news release.

This season, Luna Park will be welcoming the city's first sustainable electric powered go-karts called the Electric Eden Raceway. It will also be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Thunderbolt, which is New York City’s first-ever major steel roller coaster.

Luna Park is located at 1000 Surf Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
