The 55th Annual International African Arts Festival will kick off on June 7 with Opening Libations, a music event rooted in legacy, culture and community.
Held in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant at the renowned Billie Holiday Theatre, this dynamic evening event honors tradition and ancestral energy to celebrate culture, creativity, and togetherness through electrifying live performances. The stage will come alive with the sounds and movements of Sipho Kunene & Woza Masekela (South Africa), Bambara African Dance & Drum Ensemble, and Entre Almas – Rachiim Ausar-Sahu, Dir., feat. Joyce Brandon.
There will also be a vibrant marketplace, featuring a host of vendors offering unique goods, art, and cultural treasures.
The festival this year will take place at Lincoln Terrace/Arthur A. Somers Park on Buffalo Avenue, between Eastern Parkway and East New York Avenue, between July 3 - 5.
