Industry City, the mixed-use complex located in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park, announced this week that it will be housing several pickleball courts courtesy of sports organization, CItyPickle.

Set up in Industry City’s Box Factory event space, the CityPickle pop-up is the organization’s first ever location in Brooklyn, and will be available from now until mid-December.

Pickleball — no relation to the fermented cucumber food of choice by many — is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.

The sport is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, where competitors use paddles to volley a wiffle ball back and forth over a net on a badminton-size court.

The sport is renowned for its accessibility, providing a fun experience for a wide range of ages and physical capabilities.

CityPickle’s Industry City location features a total of seven indoor pickleball courts, allowing for up to eight players per court.

In addition to open play for visitors, the pop-up will also offer lessons and clinics for aspiring pickleballers that are looking to take their game to the next level.

"Our mission at CityPickle is to bring the joy and community of pickleball to as many New Yorkers as possible. Launching in Industry City is a milestone moment for us that marks our first ever courts in Brooklyn, and we could not think of a more perfect location and partner," said CityPickle Co-Founders Mary Cannon and Erica Desai.

Jim Somoza, the managing director of Industry City, says that the mixed-use campus is ecstatic to be bringing the sport of pickleball to visitors, to go along with its other assortment of offerings and experiences.

“We are proud to host CityPickle’s first pop-up location in Brooklyn,” said Somoza. “Industry City continues to cultivate an environment of innovation and creativity and we are so excited to add CityPickle to our roster of top-tier amenities for tenants and activities for visitors.”

The pickleball courts are open Sunday through Wednesday, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, and Thursday through Saturday, between 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
