Music at Co-Cath, the immersive choral theater company based at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights, announced its 2025–2026 season, Light in the Shadows: Choral Journeys of Hope and Renewal.
The season highlights the transition from darkness into light through works by composers spanning centuries, including Victoria, Monteverdi, MacMillan and Shaw.
Each performance is free and open to the public, transforming the cathedral into a space for beauty, reflection and community gathering.
Season Lineup
- Oct. 17–18 — From Death to Eternal Light: Tomas Luis de Victoria’s Requiem 1605 and Marian motets
- Dec. 19–20 — Monteverdi Christmas: Selections from Vespers 1610 and Selva morale e spirituale
- Mar. 12–20 — Seven Last Words: James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross alongside Caroline Shaw’s To the Hands
Led by Artistic Director Alejandro Zuleta and Associate Director Cristina María Castro, the group creates multicultural, inclusive experiences designed to make world-class choral music accessible to all.
“Our season asks audiences to travel with us through darkness into light,” said Zuleta. “With works that span centuries, from Victoria to Shaw, we’re building moments of awe and intimacy that speak directly to the human need for hope and healing.”
