Fresh off its 15th annual edition that ran in June, the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival is accepting horror screenplays of 40 pages or fewer for its latest IndieBoom script contest.

The contest aims to give writers a platform to showcase new work with prizes designed to help them grow and connect. Manny and Lindsay Serrano of Mass Grave Pictures will read and judge all entries.

“Indie horror is a really exciting genre, with work that’s always on the cutting edge," said said AoBFF co-founder Anthony DeVito. "We want to give writers a platform to showcase their new scripts, with prizes to help them grow, network and succeed.”

The judges will not use AI to read or judge screenplays, "because it’s not ethical to entrust human artwork to an algorithm," DeVito said.

Industry prizes include Pro listings from InkTip and VIP passes to the 2026 Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a script consultation with Mass Grave Pictures.

All entrants will get access to a free webinar from Roadmap Writers. Entries are accepted through FilmFreeway with discounts for Gold members.

IndieBoom is a screenplay contest platform produced by the nonprofit Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, which is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts and the NYC Cultural Development Fund.

Submissions are open until Aug.10.
