The abandoned William Ulmer Brewery, located in Bushwick, has recently added an immersive art experience to its offerings, allowing visitors to go beyond beer and explore a world of interactive art installations, reports Untapped New York

The art experience, called "Ulmer: Conveyance," features works from a variety of artists, ranging from sculptors to performance artists. Visitors are invited to wander through the historic William Ulmer Brewery in Brooklyn and interact with the art, which includes sound installations, video projections and even a virtual reality experience.

The goal of the experience is to provide visitors with a unique and engaging way to explore the world of craft beer. The immersive art installations complement the brewery's industrial aesthetic, and visitors are encouraged to take their time and explore at their own pace.

The Ulmer Brewery complex consists of four buildings — an office, a brew house, an engine-machine house and a stable-storage house — constructed between 1872 and 1890. It was one of over a dozen German-operated breweries built in Bushwick during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

It ceased to be an active brewery in 1920 due to Prohibition. In 2010, the brewery was designated a New York City Landmark, the first brewery in the city to receive this status.

The immersive art experience has been a hit with visitors since its launch, with many praising the Brewery's unique and creative approach to granting the public rare access to the abandoned interior spaces of the Ulmer Brewery before they are restored this summer.

The installation itself is designed in two parts. The upper floors will host a multi-room site-specific installation designed as a self-guided procession through the main operating floors of the structure. And within the building’s abandoned sub-basements, hourly processions will guide visitors through an ambient performance focused on the site's operational origins.

"Ulmer: Conveyance" is just the latest example of Bushwick Brewery's commitment to innovation and creativity.

The brewery has long been known for its experimental and boundary-pushing approach to craft beer, and the immersive art experience is just one more way in which they are pushing the envelope. The installation will be on view and open to the public 12:00pm-4:00pm on April 15, 16 and 22. For those interested in viewing the exhibition, tickets are available here, and visitors are encouraged to book in advance.
